Senator Rochas Okorocha was involved in another round of drama this weekend.
Okorocha, who landed in a police station after an altercation with an aide of Governor Hope Uzodinma, last month, was involved in a scuffle with a monarch this time around.
Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, who was dethroned as the traditional ruler of Obingwu community in Orlu council of Imo, sighted Okorocha on the aircraft heading to Abuja from Owerri, Imo State capital.
Okorocha, who governed Imo between 2011 and 2019, had refused to reinstate Ilomuanya despite a court order.
Trouble reportedly started after the former chairman of Imo State and South East Council of Traditional Rulers told Okorocha, who sat next to him, to get out of his sight.
An argument had ensued between the duo but the situation degenerated into a confrontation as the monarch was said to have hit the former governor with his walking stick.
It took the intervention of the cabin crew to separate both men but they continued hurling insults at each other.
The monarch was said to have accused Okorocha of being unfair to him but the former governor said he had no regrets dethroning him.
In his reaction to the incident, Okorocha’s media aide, Sam Onwuemeodo, said it is possible that the monarch did that to warm his way into the heart of Uzodinma.
In a statement, Onwuemeodo said llomuanya might have taken advantage of the cold war between Okorocha and the current administration.
He added that the incident confirmed Okorocha’s peaceful disposition as he refused to fight back.“His penchant or love for peace. His principle of live and let others live. And that was why, as lmo Governor for eight years, never had any personal confrontation with any one. He never chased or pursued or chastised his critics. Rather, he loved them. (DailyTrust)
