Vera Anyim, the lady whose popularity was fueled by the controversy that followed her recent testimony at the Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Abuja, has recorded an 8-minute long video begging Nigerians for support in securing an accomodation.
Anyim’s video made the rounds on the internet after her testimony was faulted and tagged a ‘lie’ by the church’s Senior Pastor, Paul Enenche.
Enenche interrupted and questioned the credibility of Anyim’s testimony at his church. Read more
Botched air mishap: Faulty aircraft taken for repairs — Ibom Air (Vanguard)
Following a social media post by a former director-general of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Mr. Joe Abah, revealing how a ground engineer, yesterday, prevented what could have turned out an air disaster, Ibom Air said the aircraft, with a bad nose gear, had been taken to the hangar for repairs.
Abah, in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), yesterday, said the pilot of the aircraft, while preparing for take-off, was warned about a bad landing gear.
Reacting to the incident, Ibom Air, in a statement, yesterday, said: “This morning (yesterday), on our 7 am flight from Lagos to Abuja, while the aircraft was pushing back from the gate, under the supervision of the monitoring engineer, he noticed an issue with the nose gear. The engineer, who wore a headset to communicate with the pilots, promptly drew the attention of the pilot in charge to his observation. Read more
Policemen beat up Lagos estate guard, command backs cops (Punch)

He stated these while reacting to the “illegalities” of the operatives when they allegedly beat up a security man at the entrance of the Abraham Adesanya Estate in the Ajah area of the state.
Narrating the incident late Thursday via his X handle, AyBenson wrote, “Men of the Nigeria Police Force are putting our lives in danger in Abraham Adesanya Estate and we’re tired! At about 10:48 p.m. 24th April, policemen in uniform in two branded trucks from Ogombo Division forcefully gained access to our estate through the designated gate for estate residents. Read more

Chairman of Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado, has described withdrawal of the policemen attached to the commission as corruption fighting back.
Daily Trust had reported how the Kano Police Command withdrew police officers from the state anti-corruption commission.
In a statement, the command’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the development was sequel to routine staff audit being carried out by the command. Read more

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has appointed National Chess Master, Tunde Onakoya, the Sports Ambassador of the State following his world record-breaking chess marathon campaign at the Times Square in New York.
He disclosed this on Thursday when he received Onakoya in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. He also announced the commencement of the state chess competition to be held in all parts of the state in honour of Onakoya.

Food security: Taraba to commence distribution of tractors to farmers (Sun)
Taraba Government on Friday said, it has concluded plans to distribute first batch of tractors to farmers in the state ahead of the farming season to tackle food shortage.
The state Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security Professor Nicholas Namessan, disclosed this to journalists while inspecting the assembling of 20 Cabrio compact tractors and 250 units of mini tractors in Jalingo.
The Commissioner explained that government has ordered a total of 100 units of Cabrio Compact Tractors and 750 units of mini tractors which would all be delivered for farmers. Read more

Strong indications emerged that the Lagos State Government has received the toxicology test conducted to determine the cause of death of late music star Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly called Mohbad, and submitted it to the police authorities for further action.
Recall that Mohbad died at the age of 27, on September 12, 2023, with circumstances surrounding his death sparking controversies on social media.

A premature Palestinian baby, who was saved from her mother’s womb after she was killed in an Israeli attack in the Gaza Strip, has died after days in an incubator.
Sabreen al-Rouh Jouda died in a Gaza hospital on Thursday after her health deteriorated and medical teams were unable to save her, said her uncle, Rami al-Sheikh Jouda.
Dr Mohammad Salama, head of the emergency neonatal unit at Emirati Hospital in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, who was caring for the baby girl, also confirmed her death on Friday. Read more

An Ohio nail salon owner was sentenced to 46 months in prison after admitting that she plotted to burn down a competing salon.
Liberty Township native Kim Lien Vu, 46, admitted in a guilty plea in September that she conspired to commit malicious destruction via fire, months after she worked with an employee on a “plot to exact revenge on the competing salon” beginning in December 2022, per the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Ohio.
After Vu “developed animosity” toward those at the other salon in Monroe, she and co-defendant Cierra Marie Bishop, 30, began to discuss setting it on fire, per the office. Read more
