Ebonyi police vow to sanction officers in viral extortion video

The Police Command in Ebonyi has warned its officers and men to steer clear of unprofessional acts and focus on promoting the good image of the Nigeria Police Force.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, issued the warning in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Abakaliki.

Ukandu stated that the warning became necessary following a viral video on social media depicting its officers in the state acting unprofessionally at their duty posts.

He denounced the unprofessional behaviour of the officers, adding that they would not go unpunished.

The PPRO mentioned that the command had commenced disciplinary actions against the officers involved.

According to him, the command is aware of the videos circulating on social media that depict officers acting unprofessionally at their duty posts.

“We unequivocally condemn their actions and have identified the officers involved; disciplinary actions have already been initiated against them,” the PPRO added.

Ukandu stated that the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Anthonia Uche-Anya, had reiterated the command’s zero tolerance for extortion.He added that the CP also warned against any form of misconduct, as any officer found wanting would face disciplinary actions. (Punch)
