Alumni of French school Ecole des Roches are set to hold a cocktail party in Lagos and are working around the clock to ensure their get-together is a huge success.
Billed for Friday, November 25 from 6 pm, the event will also serve as a networking opportunity for prospective students who wish to attend the school in pursuit of a dream career.
Organised by a proud alumnus and founder of Jwievie – Ms Somto Nero Asibelua, she spoke glowingly of her Alma Mater.
While recounting her experience as a student in École des Roches, Asibelua said: “As a multilingual Nigerian, studying the International Baccalaureate in École des Roches made me multidimensional.”
The multilingual advocate further remarked that being surrounded by international students while at Ecole des Roches enabled her to practise open-mindedness and to acquire better communication skills.
“Positions of leadership and team projects inspired my passion to be a positive influence in the world. Social responsibility initiatives encouraged me to be a part of the solution, always. My experience was indeed memorable as it opened my eyes to the collaborative opportunities available to Nigerians.”
Founded in 1899 by sociologist Edmond Demolins, the school is a co-educational international boarding school for international and French students aged 11 to 18, from Middle to High School.
The head of school, Ivor J. Gemmell said the citadel of learning is renowned for raising “rocheux” who is a person groomed to display qualities such as– humility, selflessness, loyalty, dignity and leadership skills, by showing respect to themselves and to others. Gemmell added that his team of experts will be pleased to help provide more useful information to Nigerians on how to go about seeking admission into the esteemed school.
Located on a 60-hectare campus, Ecole des Roches is in the heart of Normandy, an hour-and-a-half drive from west of Paris. It welcomes non-French speaking students aged 11 to 18 years old who come to learn French or to improve their French and immerse themselves in French culture for a full year or a shorter stay (from three weeks to six months).
The school also offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB) and French as a Foreign Language (FLE) programmes for short stays or immersion during the school year, and finally summer and winter language courses.
The soiree cocktail on Friday, November 25th is open to Nigerians who are keen on exploring the endless possibilities; to learn and to connect, what Ecole des Roches offers to her students drawn from across the world.
