Efforts to restore national grid ongoing, says TCN (Channels)

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on Tuesday said the ongoing restoration of the national grid which collapsed on Monday is ongoing and almost completed.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Public Affairs General Manager of TCN, Ndidi Mbah, said that the national grid experienced a partial disturbance on Monday, 14th October 2024 at about 6:48 pm.

“The statement said although the recovery of the grid commenced immediately, with Azura power station providing the blackstart, grid recovery reached advanced stages at about 10.24 am, today (Tuesday) when it encountered a challenge that caused a slight setback in the recovery process,” the statement read. Sanwo-Olu leads inaugural ride as Lagos Red Line begins operations (Punch)

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has officially flagged off commercial operations of the Lagos Red Line rail with an inaugural trip from Oyingbo Station to Agbado, a key suburban area on the Lagos boundary.

The historic ride, which took place at exactly 5.20 pm on Tuesday, comes seven months after the completion and commissioning of the rail infrastructure.

Director General of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall, Saleh Abubakar, has urged Nigerians to imbibe the culture of hand washing to prevent life-threatening diseases, including diarrhoea and cholera.

The outing in the western region of the state in November 2023 culminated in a presumed outbreak of trichinellosis, a rare parasitic disease linked to wild game meat, the CDC said in the report published last week.
