Ego Boyo: TV, movies, family

Nollywood actress and producer, Nwakaego Boyo, the one you know as Ego Boyo will clock 50 on September 6. As it is to be expected, there will be a huge celebration for the delectable wife and mother, who has been married for 26 years.

The founder of Temple Productions, who is married to an Oando Plc big shot, Omamofe Boyo, is best remembered for her role as Ann Haastrup in the popular 1990s NTA soap, Checkmate, where she starred opposite Richard Mofe-Damijo. As many would recall, a lot of people were as drawn to her as they were the television series that is still one of the best ever produced on Nigerian television.

She also starred in some Nollywood films including 30 Days, Keeping Faith and Violated. For someone whose first major movie role was in 1996’s Violated, which she also co-produced, Ego Boyo, has come a long way to owning her own production company  and recently producing  A Hotel Called Memory, which will no doubt keep Nollywood talking a long time for being light years ahead.

Her contributions to the Nigerian movie industry have been immense and the fact that she never let go has helped to engender quality in Nollywood. The University of Benin graduate did all that in Lagos. She is a Lagos big girl.

Bet you didn’t know that got married exactly one year after she got on the Checkmate project.
