The Enugu Diocese of Anglican communion has warned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to stay clear from the Deputy President of Senate, Prof. Ike Ekweremadu, insisting that Ekweremadu had no trace of corruption since his political life. The church said that what the agencies of the federal government are doing to Ekweremadu was intimidation and an extension of emasculation of the Eastern region, which if stretched further could result to dismemberment of Nigeria. The church asked the security agencies to go to troubled states such as Benue and Plataeau, to lay siege instead of Ekweremadu’s residence where there is no threat to national cohesion. The Anglican church made the position known when it paid solidarity visit to the Deputy Senate President in Enugu, Sunday evening. Read more
