Elections: Residents laud INEC for early kick-off in Ikorodu

Some residents of Ikorodu area of Lagos State who came out in large numbers have applauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for early deployment of staff and materials to polling units in the area.

They made the recommendation at some of the polling units monitored by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday as they trooped out for the Governorship and House of Assembly elections in Lagos state.

A resident, Mrs Wuraola Shokunbi, applauded INEC for correcting the challenges experienced during the presidential election for late arrival of election materials which, she said denied many people from exercising their franchise.

“Most of us get to the polling units very early today and not too long after, INEC officials.

“Indeed, INEC has done better this time around compared to the presidential election when materials were deployed came very late,” she said.

Another resident, Mr Wale Aleje, also commended INEC officials for improving on their last performance, adding that it will enable more voters to be attended to before the deadline.

“We are happy now that materials came early, as you can see people have commenced voting,” he said.

Also, Mr Saheed Adebanjo, expressed delight at INEC for the early arrival of materials. (INEC)
