Electricity workers strike in Jos over tariff hike

Members of the Jos Electricity Distribution (JED) chapter of the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) have embarked on a strike to protest the recent hike in electricity tariff by the Federal Government.

The workers, who arrived at the JED office in Jos this morning, locked the doors of all offices, preventing staff from entering. As of this report, JED staff remain stranded outside the main building, which is under lock and key.

The protesting workers are chanting solidarity songs and calling for a reversal of the tariff hike. (Sun)
