Emir Of Dutse, Sunusi, is dead

The Emir of Dutse in Jigawa State, Nuhu Muhammad Sunusi, is dead.

The monarch died on Tuesday (today) at a hospital in Abuja.

In a condolence message by the Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Sankara, he described the late Emir as a bridge builder, kind and humane personality.

The statement lauded the contribution of late Alhaji Nuhu Muhammad Sunusi to the development of the state.

“May the soul of the late Emir rest in peace and may the memories of his life bring comfort and solace to those he leaves behind,” the statement said.

The late emir was appointed pioneer Chancellor of the Sokoto State University, Sokoto, by a former Governor of the state, Alhaji Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.

Born in 1945 at Yargaba village in Dutse, the capital of Jigawa State, Dr Sunusi attended Dutse Elementary School from 1952 to 1956.

After his post primary education, he obtained a National Certificate in Education from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and later a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Arts in International Business from Ohio University, United States of America.

He further obtained a Post-Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Analysis from Bradford University, United Kingdom.

The emir was awarded an honorary PhD in Management by the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo State.

He acquired substantial experience in agricultural consultancy and industrial and commercial management after working for several years. (Punch)
