Court remands 4 over burglary in Lagos (DailyTrust)

A chief magistrate court sitting in Ogba, Lagos State, has ordered the remand of four suspects accused of breaking into a warehouse and carting away electronics worth millions of naira.

The accused, Kayode Ayodele, Abolore Salaudeen, Jamiu Bakare and Afolabi Fatai, were

taken to court on a two-count charge of armed robbery and burglary.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed their arraignment, said the four accused persons along with eight others allegedly broke into Flakes Ventures warehouse, at Epe and carted away electronics worth millions of naira. Read more

Kidnappers kill pastor after collecting ransom (Nation)

A Lagos-based pastor, Frederick Ojo Aramuwa, has been killed by his abductors after collecting N2m ransom.

Pastor Aramuwa’s corpse was found close to the area where he was abducted.

Sources said he was abducted alongside his driver some days ago while returning home to Ifira, Akoko South East local government area.

The sources said the kidnappers initially demanded for N10m but later collected N2m.

But his lifeless body was later found by a search team. Read more

Brother stabs Lagos businessman to death over N3,000 (Punch)

A businessman, Uchenna Njoku, has been allegedly killed by his younger brother, Chukwuma, during an argument over N3000 debt at the deceased’s residence in the Odokekere area of Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area of Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Chukwuma paid Uchenna a visit on Friday when the deceased asked his brother to pay the N3,000 he owed him, but in the process, an argument ensued between the brothers, which degenerated into a fight.

During the fight, it was learnt that the brothers ignored several pleas by Uchenna’s pregnant wife to stop fighting, but in a bid to separate them, she resorted to seeking the help of their neighbours.

Speaking with PUNCH Metro, a relative of the brothers, Alex Ogbu, said before Uchenna’s wife returned, Chukwuma had brought out a knife and allegedly stabbed his sibling in the stomach, adding that the cause of the fight was N3,000 debt. Read more

Lagos police arrest ‘most wanted’ cult killer, suspected armed robbers (Guardian)

Operatives of Lagos State Police Command have arrested the ‘most wanted’ alleged serial cultist killer, Segun Agodo, at Odonguyan outskirts of Ikorodu.

According to the spokesman of the command, Muyiwa Adejobi, police detectives attached to Sagamu Road Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, Sagamu Road, Ikorodu, apprehended the suspect.

Segun, a senior member of a notorious cult group, had been on the run for a while since he got the wind that he had been declared wanted by the police for his alleged atrocities in Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

“Aiye” confraternity head kills rival “Eye” leader in Lagos (Punch)

In what appeared a quest for supremacy, the leader of ‘Aiye’ Confraternity in the Bariga area of Lagos State, Segun Ezekiel, has killed Taye Gbalagbala, leader of rival cult group ‘Eye’ Confraternity in the area.

It was gathered that the incident happened on March 28, 2021.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement on Saturday, said 24-year-old Ezekiel confessed that he murdered 30-year-old Gbalagbala.

Adejobi said Ezekiel has been arrested and the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered that the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and arrest of other fleeing culprits. Read more

A 29-year-old armed robbery suspect, Taiwo Ojomo, who was arrested alongside three others by operatives of Intelligence Response Team (IRT), led by DCP Abba Kyari, has narrated how he was introduced into crime by his twin brother, Kehinde Ojomo.

The siblings whose gang operate within and outside Lagos confessed to being the children of a retired soldier.

In his confession to the police, Taiwo said he now heads his own gang, having grown through the ranks in his twin brother’s gang.

Dad’s friend raped me, filmed the act – Victim (Punch)

A suspected rapist, Mr Onuoha Odih, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly raping a 25-year-old lady, Blessing (pseudonym).

The victim told City Round that the suspect was his father’s friend and colleague when they both worked as security guards at a popular church based in the Ijesa area of Lagos State. She said despite her pleas, he raped her and boasted that nothing would happen to him because he would bribe the police and be freed.

“I tried to resist him but he brought out a knife and threatened to kill me,” she added.

Blessing stated that after her father lost his sight and left the employ of the church about five years ago, things became difficult for them and Odih offered to help the family from time to time. Read more

Customs arrests 6 suspects with marijuana worth N661m from Ghana (Sun)

The Western Marine Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), last Friday said it arrested six suspects with 147 sacks of marijuana with an average of 45Kg per sack, giving an estimated total of 6,615Kg coming from Ghana.

The six suspects and marijuana worth ₦661, 500, 000 were handed over to the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for prosecution and destruction.

The Customs Area Comptroller of the Command, Olugboyega Peters, while handing over the cannabis to the Commander of Apapa NDLEA Special Area Command, Samuel Gazama, said the arrests were made on Saturday March 27.

He said the WMC operatives of Coastal and Harbour Patrol on credible intelligence along Ibeche Beach on the high sea accosted and arrested two wooden boats laden with sacks suspected to contain Marijuana HS Code 0602.90 of Common External Tariff (CET) together with six suspects. Read more

3 jailed 21 years for armed robbery (Punch)

Justice Modupe Nicole-Clay of the Lagos State High Court has sentenced three men to 21 years’ imprisonment for armed robbery.

The convicts, Sheriff Emiloju, Aanu Moses and Farouq Atolagbe, were arraigned before the court on April 1, 2017, on four counts bordering on conspiracy and armed robbery by the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions.

During trial, the prosecution told the court that the convicts, while armed with bottles, robbed one Abass Bashiru and Olayinka Houka of their Blackberry Passport phone, Blackberry Q10 and a wallet containing N2,000 and a prayer cloth.The Director of Public Prosecutions, Olayinka Adeyemi, said the convicts, while also armed with bottles, robbed one Adewunmi Ogunleye of her bag containing N190,000, photocopies and original copies of her vehicle documents, an ATM card, a voter card and a Samsung phone, valued at N60,000, a phone charger and a power bank.
