Ethiopia’s Sintayehu Legese wins 2019 Lagos marathon

Sintayehu Legese from Ethiopia has emerged winner in the 2019 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon on Saturday bracing the tape in a time of 2 hours 17 minutes 26 secs,

The 29-year -old Ethiopian reportedly beat Joshua Kipkorir from Kenya, who came second, to the top prize of $50,000. Joshua will receive $40,000 for his effort.

In spite of downpour in the early hours of Saturday in the city, runners, spectators came out in their numbers to partake in the Lagos Marathon. About 100,000 runners are said to have taken part in this year’s edition.
