Jordan Pickford has attempted to explain his ‘freak’ error which handed Liverpool a 1-0 victory the final moments of the Merseyside derby.
Everton looked to have secured a point at Anfield but Pickford’s howler in the sixth minute of injury time gave Divock Ovigi a chance to be Liverpool’s hero and the striker made no mistake from close-range.
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson consoled Pickford shortly after the final whistle and Marco Silva offered his support to England’s number in his post-match interview.
Pickford apologised to Everton supporters after the defeat and revealed what he was trying to do when asked about his bizarre mistake which led to Origi’s winner. Read more
