Final burial rites for Supreme Court Justice Emmanuel Olayinka Ayoola begin November 11

The nation prepares to bid farewell to Justice Emmanuel Olayinka Ayoola, former Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and ex-chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) in a fitting tribute to a distinguished jurist.

The comprehensive burial arrangements, spanning from November 11-22, 2024, will commence in Abuja and conclude in Ibadan.

The ceremonies will begin with a special court sitting at the Supreme Court in Abuja’s Three Arms Zone on November 11, highlighting Justice Ayoola’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s judiciary. The proceedings will then move to Ibadan, where a Service of Songs will be held at the prestigious Mauve 21 Event Centre on November 21.

The final day of ceremonies on November 22 will feature a lying-in-state at the deceased’s residence in Temidire Camp, followed by a funeral service at the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Adeola Odutola Road. The family has announced through a statement by Yemisi Odeniyi (née Ayoola) that a private interment will follow immediately after the service.

Justice Ayoola’s legacy encompasses not only his distinguished service on the Supreme Court bench but also his pioneering role in Nigeria’s anti-corruption efforts as ICPC Chairman. His passing marks the end of an era in Nigeria’s judicial history.
