FPP’s vote not fight campaign ahead of 2019 election gets commendation

The anti-violence campaign of the Foundation for Peace Professionals (FPP) ahead of the 2019 general election, tagged ‘’vote not fight’’ has been commended by the Commandant of Special Task Force (Operation Safe Heaven) in Plateau State, Maj General Augustine Agundu.

The STF commandant, who hailed FPP for its efforts and consistency, particularly on the early warning alerts being regularly sent to the agency, urges the organisation to continue to sensitise youths in the

‘’vote not fight’’ campaign and ensure they stay away from political violence and criminality.

During a courtesy call to STF headquarters in Jos, Plateau State by the leadership of FPP, led by its Regional Coordinator, Ambassador Alkasim Aliyu, Maj General Agundu said the insecurity in Plateau State has little to do with any farmer and herdsmen clashes, but is rather the handiwork of criminals and bandits, which he said was similar to what is happening in Zamfara and Sokoto states.

The general, while laying emphases on the need for youths to avoid being used by politicians for political thuggery, he said that anyone found wanting will be appropriately dealt with.

He also encouraged the youths to travel across the country and explore interstate business opportunities and entrepreneurship, adding that the multicultural conflict exists only when the youths are into criminality or drug abuse.

Earlier, the Regional Coordinator of FPP, Ambassador Alkasim Aliyu, told the commandant that the organisation embarked on the visit to share with them, it’s ongoing ‘’vote not fight’’ campaign. The FPP

coordinator also commended the STF for organising the first Plateau Youth Summit, which he described as the first of its kind in the history of the state.
