Frank Lampard says Christian Pulisic is in contention to play against Brighton on Monday evening just over a month after pulling his hamstring in Chelsea’s FA Cup final defeat to Arsenal.
The American enjoyed a strong maiden campaign in the Premier League and was particularly impressive after the restart, scoring or assisting eight goals in nine games.
But his season came to an abrupt end at the start of last month when he pulled his hamstring as he raced through on goal at Wembley, making him a major injury doubt for this season’s Premier League opener.
But Lampard confirmed that the 21-year-old returned to training on Wednesday and has looked very sharp, suggesting both he and Cesar Azpilicueta – who was injured against Bayern Munich – will feature against Brighton. (Metro)
