Fuji artist Saheed Osupa finishes studies for degree in political science

Fuji artist and actor Akorede Babatunde Okunola, popularly known as Saheed Osupa, has completed studies for a bachelor of science degree in political science from the University of Ibadan.

Saheed Osupa completed his studies on Friday and shared pictures of him and his coursemates “signing out” on his Instagram page.

“You don’t have to see the whole staircase; just take the first step for the best view comes after the hardest climb,” the 52-year old fuji artist wrote on Instagram.

“Signing out in style. Alihamdulilai Robil Alamin. I am grateful. BSc Political Science in the bag. University of Ibadan!”

Osupa has released over 35 albums including Master Blaster and Stainless Fuji.

Famed for his dense wordplay and infusion of proverbs in his music, Saheed Osupa has established himself as one of the most successful fuji musicians to cross over into the Yoruba movie industry, having featured in at least 10 movies.

In 2013, he won Yoruba Academy Awards for the Best Musician in an Acting Role and the City People Entertainment Awards for the Best Fuji Musician of the Year.

In 2019, Saheed Osupa picked up the Yoruba Image International Awards for the Best Fuji Musician of the Year. (Guardian)
