Gareth Southgate opens door to Jamie Vardy England recall (Metro)

England boss Gareth Southgate insists the door is open for Jamie Vardy to return to international football.

The Leicester City forward retired from international duty after the 2018 World Cup, insisting that he wanted to focus on club football.

The 32-year-old made his Three Lions debut in 2015 and made 27 appearances in the subsequent three years, scoring seven goals.

Vardy’s late start in top-flight football means he’s showed little signs of slowing down and he managed 18 goals in 33 appearances for the Foxes last term. Read more
