Gary Neville believes that David De Gea’s feet are ‘letting him down’ after he failed to keep out Leroy Sane’s strike during Manchester United’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday.
There were question marks over De Gea’s positioning for City’s first goal scored by Bernardo Silva and the United No.1 failed to cover himself in glory for Sane’s effort too, deflecting it into the net after attempting to make a block with his right foot.
De Gea’s Manchester derby showing capped a dismal couple of weeks for him as he was at fault for Lionel Messi’s second goal during Barcelona’s 3-0 win over United and was criticised for his performance in the 4-0 loss to Everton on Sunday.
One of De Gea’s biggest strengths during his time with Manchester United has been his shot-stopping abilities with his feet, however, Neville believes that aspect of his game has been vulnerable recently and stated that he is going through a ‘difficult time’. Read more
