19-year-old stabs friend to death after heated argument in Lagos (Vanguard)

A 19-year-old girl, Fatimo Agboke, has allegedly stabbed her friend Faruk Azeez to death following a heated argument in the Ijegun area of Lagos on Monday night.

The incident occurred around 9:20 PM, and despite efforts to rush the 20-year-old victim, Faruk Azeez, to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.

According to the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the father of the deceased, reported the incident to the Isheri Oshun Division shortly after receiving a distressing call from a neighbour. Read more

20-year-old man killed in cold blood in Lagos (Vanguard)

The Lagos State Police Command is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a young man, who was killed on the streets of Okokomaiko in the Ojo area of Lagos State.

It was learned that the incident occurred on September 6, 2024, at 9:10p.m.

According to a statement by the Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin said the police received a distress call from concerned members of the public, reporting that a group of four unidentified gunmen were seen chasing a young man along Abeokuta Street, Okokomaiko. Read more

Police investigate death of 20-year old man in Lagos (Vanguard)

The Police Command in Lagos State says it has begun an investigation into the death of a 20-year old man allegedly killed by gunmen.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday.

Suspected Lagos land speculator declares war on police (Vanguard)

A suspected land speculator in Lagos State, aka ‘Ibile’, in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, has allegedly declared war on the police.

The middle-aged man was seen on tick-tock lamenting his tribulations in the hands of the police alleging that some officers wanted to extort N150 million from him for the Inspector General of Police, over a land matter in his area.

He also alleged that some police officers from Zone 2, Command, Onikan, Lagos, wrongly accused him of kidnapping, gun running and killing after which they declared him wanted on social media without inviting him to defend himself. Read more

NDLEA intercepts consignments of cocaine, opioids in sanitary pads, hair creams (Vanguard)

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have intercepted consignments of cocaine and pharmaceutical opioids concealed in ladies’ sanitary pads and hair treatment cream containers by three courier firms in Lagos, heading to the United Kingdom, Ireland and Cyprus.

NDLEA in a statement, yesterday, said: “In one of the logistics companies, no fewer than 30 parcels of cocaine weighing 1.1 kilograms concealed in hair cream containers were recovered by officers of the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation, DOGI, during examination of cargoes going to Ireland on September 3, 2024.

“Another consignment of 24 parcels of cocaine weighing 862 grams also hidden in hair cream containers meant for delivery in the UK was equally intercepted at the same company on September 6. Read more

Lagos court jails American bizman 74 years for $1.2m visa scam (Punch)

A Lagos State Special Offences Court, in Ikeja, on Tuesday, convicted and sentenced an American businessman, Marco Antonio Ramirez, to 74 years imprisonment, for defrauding victims of $1.2m, through an EB-5 visa scam and an additional $368,698.24, in fraud.

Justice Mojisola Dada, who handed down the sentence, found Ramirez guilty on two separate consolidated charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The court ruled that the prosecution had proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt. Read more

Transformer vandal electrocuted in Lagos (Punch)

An unidentified man has been electrocuted while attempting to vandalise a transformer at a company situated on Awolowo Road in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State.

The incident was said to have occurred in the early hours of Sunday, September 1.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed this in a statement obtained by PUNCH Online on Sunday said the deceased had climbed the gate beside the transformer when he got struck by the electric current, fell inside the compound and died on the spot. Read more

The Lagos State Police Command on Thursday confirmed that the Nigerian Army has handed over one Adeleye Ayomide, 23, who is accused of killing a 300-level student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Idowu Christiana.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this in a message he shared on his X handle.“23-year-old Ayomide Adeleye has been handed over to #LagosPoliceNG by 9 Brigade #HQNigerianArmy.

2 traffic robbery suspects nabbed in Lagos (Nation)

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended two suspected traffic robbers at Kola Bus Stop, Alagbado.

The suspects, identified as Idowu Lukuman and Sadiq Ahmed, were caught after allegedly robbing a resident of his mobile phone.

NAFDAC shuts illegal sachet water factory in Lagos (Nation)

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has shut an illegal sachet water factory in Apapa, Lagos State, following a raid by its Investigation and Enforcement Directorate.

The operation, which took place at No. 89 Marine Road, Oluwole Market Waterside, uncovered a large-scale production of counterfeit and adulterated sachet water.

According to NAFDAC, the factory was operating in a filthy environment near a contaminated canal, raising serious health concerns.
