Govt warns residents on poisonous ponmo in Lagos market (Punch)
The Lagos State Government has warned residents of the state against buying ponmo (cow skin), being sold in some markets in the state.
A statement by the Director of Public Affairs, Lagos State Ministry of Health, Adeola Salako, said three persons involved in the sale of the “poisonous ponmo ” in the Ojo and Iba local government areas of the state had been arrested. Read more
Task force arrests 90 suspected cultists, miscreants (Nation)
The Lagos State Task Force on Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences said yesterday that it had arrested 26 suspected cultists, 64 miscreants and impounded 96 motorcycles in raids.
A statement by the agency’s spokesman, Taofiq Adebayo, said the suspected Awawa cultists were apprehended at Agege and the miscreants at Oshodi during raids executed on Saturday night at Isale-Oja, Funmilayo, Ile-Pako Amoo, Orile by canal, Papa-Ashafa, Dopemu and Old Oko-Oba in Agege areas of the state during a raid codenamed ‘Operation Restore Sanity to Lagos.’ Read more

Four states of the federation – Lagos, Rivers, Ogun and Delta – generated N2.71tn in internal revenue between 2013 and 2017, an investigation has shown.

Nigeria imports pottery products worth $600m annually, the Federal Government has said.
The Coordinator, Mineral Sector Support for Economic Diversification, Mr Linus Adie, disclosed this on Saturday while conducting World Bank Task Team Leader, Nura Arfaa, round the dilapidated Ladi Kwali Pottery Centre, Suleja, Niger State.
Adie said that despite the great path that Nigeria had established in the pottery industry and the abundance of ceramic raw materials, the country imported more than 80 per cent of its pottery needs. Read more
CBN to withdraw N7.9tr dirty, mutilated notes (Nation)
A large proportion of the N7.9 trillion pieces of naira notes in circulation are dirty, mutilated, unfit for Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) and over-the-counter payments, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has said.
A statement by CBN’s Deputy Governor, Operations Folashodun Shonubi and Director, Currency Operations Department Mrs. Pricilla Eleje spoke of plans to withdraw such notes from circulation. Read more
