Gridlock: Lawmaker cautions against wrong-way driving (Punch)
The Lawmaker representing Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency II of Lagos State at the House of Representative, Ganiyu Johnson, has urged motorists to limit the rate at which they travel to reduce gridlock on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and Lagos metropolis.
He said this while addressing journalists on the sidelines of a food distribution programme organised for over 500 residents in Ejigbo.
Johnson also advised motorists against driving on the wrong side of traffic, popularly called one way, or taking unauthorised roads to reduce accidents. Read more
Noise pollution: Shut hotels, religious centres need residents’ associations’ approval (NewTelegraph)
Lagos State government yesterday told owners of hotels, night clubs, leisure homes and religious centres shut for noise pollution to get approval from the Residents Associations of their host communities before they could be reopened.
It was learnt that with the new development, any night club bar, karaoke centre, church and mosque in the state shut owing to noise pollution will henceforth not be reopened until a letter of guarantee is issued on their behalf by the residents’ association of such area. Read more
Sales person docked over N1.2m theft (DailyTrust)
A 37-year-old man, Jude Aghado, was yesterday docked before an Ikeja magistrate court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing a sum of N1.2 million belonging to the complainant, 3C HUB Brand Management Company.
Aghado was alleged to have committed the offence on October 29, 2019, at about 12pm, at No. 5, Awolowo Way, Ikeja. Read more
Customs intercept N68.9m smuggled frozen products at airport (Punch)
The Muritala Muhammed International Airport Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has announced the seizure of N68.9m worth of frozen products smuggled into the country through the airport.
These were made known at a joint press briefing between the Customs area controllers of the MMIA Command and Muritala Muhammed Area Command (cargo section), headed by Adewale Adeniyi and Lena Oyama.
According to the NCS, 40 cartons of the products were intercepted on a South African Airways flight and 104 cartons abandoned on the tarmac of the terminal. Read more
Lagos, Ogun communities cry out over flood (DailyTrust)
Communities in Isheri, in Lagos and Ogun states, yesterday cried out over what they described as the destruction of their homes as a result of recent floods which displaced residents and property owners in Isheri North Estate, Riverview Estate and other adjoining areas. The communities blamed the flood on indiscriminate release of water from Oyan Dam by the Ogun-Oshun River Basin Development Authority (OORBDA).
Members of the communities, at a press conference yesterday, said they had been displaced for the past four weeks, while valuables, which cost they said cannot be quantified, had been lost. They called for the intervention of the federal government. Read more
241 bag First Class as UI graduates 7,430 students (Nation)
No fewer than 241 graduates of Nigeria’s oldest citadel of learning, University of Ibadan (UI), have been awarded with First Class degree in the 2017/2018 academic session.
Professor Abel Olayinka, UI’s Vice Chancellor disclosed that the Faculty of Science had the highest number of First Class at 46, followed by the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry with 38 and the Faculty of Technology with 27.
The breakdown of graduates for the 2017/2018 session showed 1,966 students had Second Class Upper (Division), 4,206, Second Class Lower (Division), 625 Third Class, 82 Pass and 310 unclassified. The 71st Convocation ceremony will witness a total churning out of 7,430 students. Read more
Senate will pass 2020 Budget on Nov. 28, Lawan insists (Vanguard)
The Nigerian Senate has given its Appropriations Committee an ultimatum of two weeks to work on the 2020 Budget and lay it on 26th November for subsequent consideration and passage before the end of next month.

PENCOM: 30 states not implementing pension scheme (NewTelegraph)
Thirty states across the six geopolitical zones in the country are yet to fully implement the Federal Government’s Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), a report by the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) has revealed.
According to the report made available to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) yesterday, only six states and the FCT had fully implemented CPS with regular and up-to-date remittance of pension contributions, establishment of pension bureau and enactment of pension law. Read more
Hillary Clinton ‘under enormous pressure’ to run in 2020 (BBC)
Hillary Clinton has said she is “under enormous pressure” to challenge US President Donald Trump in next year’s White House election.
The former Democratic presidential nominee refused to rule it out, telling the BBC: “Never say never.”
Mrs Clinton, 72, said she thinks “all the time” about what kind of president she would have been if she had beaten Mr Trump in 2016.

Bolivia crisis: Evo Morales says he fled to Mexico as life was at risk (BBC)
Former Bolivian President Evo Morales has arrived in Mexico City saying he asked for asylum because his life was in danger.
Mr Morales resigned on Sunday after weeks of protests over a disputed presidential election result.
The Mexican jet carrying him landed at an airport in Mexico City, where he gave a brief news conference.
Mr Morales said he was forced to stand down but did so willingly “so there would be no more bloodshed”. Read more

Arsenal’s Matteo Guendouzi has claimed to participate in karate as a youngster has helped to improve his football skills.

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah will miss Egypt’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Kenya and Comoros with an ankle injury.
The 27-year-old was substituted in the 87th minute of Sunday’s 3-1 Premier League win over Manchester City after picking up the knock in a challenge with Fernandinho.
