Harry Maguire tells Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he’s fit to make Manchester United debut against Chelsea (Metro)

Manchester United new boy Harry Maguire is confident he’s ready to make his debut against Chelsea, but understands it’s up to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to make the final decision over his fitness this weekend.

Maguire completed an £80million move from Leicester to United on Monday to become the most expensive defender in history, eclipsing the £75m Liverpool paid Southampton for Virgil van Dijk back in January 2018.

The 26-year-old was the third player to join the Red Devils this summer after Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka arrived at Old Trafford from Swansea and Crystal Palace respectively.

Maguire had been suffering with an illness before making the record-breaking move, but the England centre-back insists he’s fit to feature on Sunday when United kick off their Premier League campaign at home to Chelsea. Read more
