Harrysong treated for depression — Management (PremiumTimes)

Singer, Harrison Tare Okiri, better known as Harrysong got many worried on Thursday when he put up a ‘death post’ on Instagram.

“Don’t cry when I die. Celebrate! Put up a kingmaker concert; empower more youths. I have lived. I have done my bit. Carry on in grace… TEKERO? I LOVE YOU ALL,” the singer wrote.

His management company, Alterplate, has however put out a statement stating that their artiste was dealing with “some emotional issues”.

The statement was signed by Alterplate’s spokesman, Desmond Ike.

The excerpts read, “A big thank you to concerned fans, friends and family who have put in calls, messages and emails to check on Harrysong after his last alarming Instagram post. The truth is Harrysong has been dealing with slight emotional issues in the last few days and has been trying to manage it alone.

“But at this point we are getting him the needed help. We have been in talks with a therapist and a session has been booked. Depression is real, but when that happens, one should seek for help from appropriate quarters.”

When PREMIUM TIMES contacted Harrysong’s spokesman on Friday, he confirmed that the singer was undergoing therapy.

“He has undergone therapy with an emotional intelligence trainer and practitioner, Oyinkansola Alabi. We had to book a session urgently because it had gone way beyond our control.

“We never believed that depression is real and that Harrysong was experiencing it because he is a sucessful artiste. We know better now. He is in a much better state all thanks to his fans and colleagues for the concern,” he noted.

Harrisong shot into limelight when he released the single “I’m In Love” and “Taiye & Kehinde” with the music video of the former topping charts.
