Sheila, the estranged wife of Davido’s logistics manager, Israel Afeare, known as Israel DMW, has accused him of using their wedding ceremony that happened a year ago, as a means to gather money for himself.

The former beauty queen, in a lengthy post on Instagram on Saturday, said she never wanted an elaborate wedding and that most of the events prior to their wedding were without her consent.

She also accused him of ‘caging’ her, adding that she lived with fear while they were married.

Israel DMW had earlier called her out, stating that he did a lot for her, yet she was ungrateful and moved out of their home. Read more

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Friday night intervened in the political crisis in Ondo State, making the warring parties to agree to sheath their swords and reunite.

Daily Trust reports that the state’s deputy governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, agreed to close ranks with his boss, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

Political actors from both sides have before now tried to undo either Governor Akeredolu, who has reportedly been away from his desk for too long, or impeach Deputy Governor Aiyedatiwa. Read more 

Collaborative efforts to combat female genital mutilation launched in Lagos (Nation)

In a joint effort between the White Truck Empowerment Initiative, the United Nations Information Center, Frontline Ending FGM and the Global Media Campaign, a pivotal initiative was launched to combat the rampant violence against young girls through the eradication of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) during the upcoming 16 days of activism.

This campaign, aimed at abolishing the cruel practice known as the “Christmas cutting season,” is gaining momentum across various Lagos communities and educational institutions.

According to the project coordinator of White Truck Empowerment

Initiative, Barr Taiye Edah the target is to end all forms of violence to the girl child, a violation denounced by both the United Nations Convention Rights and the Child Rights Law. Read more

At least 10 residents of the Takum and Ussa Local Government Areas of Taraba State have been confirmed killed by suspected bandits.

The incident took place in separate locations in the said areas on Friday.

Terrorist commander, Abu Asad, killed in airstrikes — NAF (Punch)

The Nigerian Air Force has confirmed the elimination of a terrorist kingpin, Abu Asad, during a recent military operation.

Asad,  who is said to be a key figure in the Ali Ngulde group under the Boko Haram sect, and many of his fighters were reportedly killed during an air operation by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai.

Describing the operation as one of the most successful in recent times, the Air Force, in a statement on Saturday by its Director of Information and Public Relations, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, stated that the airstrikes from its aircraft also destroyed two out of three structures used by the terrorists. Foundation empowers 700 Lagos youths with skills, job tools (Vanguard)

No fewer than 700 youths in Lagos State penultimate Thursday graduated from the skills acquisition programme sponsored by the Imole Eko Foundation.

The graduation, the sixth in a series, was held at the Police College Ground in Ikeja.

Beneficiaries of the programme who were trained in fashion designing, facial makeover, hairdressing, wig making, barbing, cosmetology, shoe/bag making, and catering received certificates, job tools, and cash as startup capital. Read more

BBC’s News at Ten frontman Huw Edwards is said to be “very cross” about the way he has been treated and is thought to be set to leave the BBC after an internal inquiry has been carried out.

Huw was suspended from his work duties with the BBC in July after it was reported that he had paid a teenager £35,000 in exchange for sexually explicit images.

Huw wasn’t named at first but, after almost a week of speculation and scrutinising of the BBC, Huw’s wife Vicky Flind came forward and named him as the person at the centre of the scandal, issuing a statement on his behalf. Read more

Spain to offer discounted live music tickets to under-30s (NME)

The Spanish government has announced that it will offer discounted tickets for live music events to citizens between the ages of 18 and 30.

The offer will apply to concerts and festivals, as well as theatre, circus and dance shows, with discounts ranging from €5 to €20 (£4-£17).

According to IQ, the country’s Department for Culture has set up the scheme, and it has been signed up by a number of festivals, including Sónar, Vida, Cruïlla, Embassa’t and Canet Rock. Read more

An Israeli boy who was kidnapped by Hamas has been reunited with his family more than six weeks after he was taken prisoner.

Ohad Munder, nine, was one of 13 hostages released after the warring sides agreed to a pause in the fighting.

Uttarakhand tunnel collapse: Rescuers to dig by hand to rescue trapped workers (BBC)

Rescue work to save 41 workers trapped in a tunnel in India’s Uttarakhand state has been delayed by at least four to five days because the drilling machine broke down inside the tunnel.

Rescuers will begin digging manually once the faulty part is removed.

The workers have been stuck inside the tunnel for two weeks after a portion of it collapsed due to a landslide. Read more

2023 AFCON: Peseiro to submit Super Eagles provisional list Dec 14 (Leadership)

The head coach of the Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro is set to submit a 55-man provisional list ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on December 14.

Antoine Griezmann has poured cold water on links with Manchester United by insisting he wants to become a ‘legend’ at Atletico Madrid.

Recent media reports in Spain had linked United with a move for Griezmann, suggesting there could be a release clause worth just €25 million (£21.7m) in his contract. Erik ten Hag is thought to want a more experienced forward to support 20-year-old Rasmus Hojlund.

Baseball makes memorable Dubai debut in All-Star Showcase (National)

It was bat against ball, but not as we knew it. Professional baseball made its debut in the region on Friday night at a cricket stadium in Dubai Sports City that had been specially reappointed for two nights only.

A decent-sized crowd came to watch the opening night of Baseball United’s All-Star Showcase. It was evenly split between those who couldn’t believe what they were seeing and those who couldn’t really understand what they were seeing.

There were the baseball diehards who were reveling in having their favourite pastime played out in front of them for the first time in the Middle East. Read more
