Hilda Baci congratulates Irish chef Alan Fisher, who shattered her Guinness World Record

Irish chef Alan Fisher has made headlines by breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual. On November 7, 2023, Fisher cooked continuously for an astonishing 119 hours and 57 minutes at his restaurant in Japan, surpassing the previous record held by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci by over 24 hours.

Hilda Baci, the former record holder, extended her congratulations to Alan Fisher, acknowledging his remarkable achievement. She posted on her social media account, “Huge congratulations to Alan Fisher! 119 hrs 57 mins is a huge achievement, and I wish him all the best as the new world record holder!”

What makes Fisher’s accomplishment even more impressive is that he didn’t stop at just one record. In addition to the longest cooking marathon, he also claimed the title for the longest baking marathon (individual), with an impressive time of 47 hours and 21 minutes. This achievement surpassed the previous record held by Wendy Sandner from the USA, who had a time of 31 hours and 16 minutes.

Alan Fisher’s dedication to his craft was evident as he spent over 160 hours in the kitchen, taking on both challenges consecutively, with just a little over a day of rest in between the two record-breaking attempts. His culinary prowess has undoubtedly left a lasting mark in the world of cooking marathons.
