Hold firm, EU’s von der Leyen tells Ukraine’s supporters at Davos

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen told supporters of Ukraine to empower their resistance in the face of Russia’s ongoing invasion.

Leyen called for more arms and financial support for Ukraine.

He urged the country’s backers to hold their ground in a speech at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF).

Von der Leyen said Ukraine needs “predicatable financing throughout 2024 and beyond’’ against the background of outstanding commitments from the European Union.

Addressing the global forum in the Swiss ski resort of Davos, von der Leyen said Ukraine “can prevail in this war,’’ citing Kiev’s victories in liberating captured territories from Russia as proof. (dpa/NAN)
