Hoodlums vandalise pipeline at Aboru for fuel theft – LASEMA (Guardian)

The Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, says hoodlums have vandalised pipeline at Aboru, Iyan-Ipaja, for fuel theft.

Oke-Osanyintolu made the disclosure to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) after the LASEMA Response Team (LRT) discovered the unlawful operation in Lagos.

NAN recalls that some months ago, pipeline explosion occurred at Abule-Egba which rendered 300 people homeless before government moved them to the Internally Displaced Person (IDP) camp at Igando. Read more

2 injured as hoodlums engage customs officers in shootout at Seme border (DailyTrust) 

Two persons were said to have sustained gunshot injuries in a shooting incident that occurred between some customs officers and suspected hoodlums at Seme-Border, in Badagry, Lagos on Friday night. The injured persons who were treated at the Custom clinic at Seme were, identified as Adomeh Henry, 10, and Hunsu Taiwo, 12. LASTMA official stabs lover, kills self in Lagos (Vanguard)

An official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, Emmanuel Mekuri, allegedly stabbed his lover and himself during a fight in their apartment at Zoo area of Araromi, Morogbo area of Lagos.

While his lover, Patricia Ogunsola, 37, survived the stab, Mekuri, 47, died on the spot.

Narrating the circumstance that led to the tragedy, Ogushola’s 13-year-old daughter, whom she had from a previous marriage, said her stepfather stabbed her mother in the thigh.

According to her; “I woke up when I heard them quarreling. My stepfather stabbed my mother in the thigh. He wanted to stab her again in the head but she dodged and ran outside. Read more

Teenager gang-raped by four men tests positive for COVID-19 (Punch)

It is triple jeopardy for Aishat as her journey to Lagos State for greener pastures has become a nightmare.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the 16-year-old was gang-raped by four men at a motor park in Ijesha, Surulere, where she was abandoned by her guardian.

The rape was said to have resulted in pregnancy, as the Oyo State indigene roamed the park for shelter.

She was reported to have slept in different shops until the pregnancy reached an advanced stage and she was referred to welfare workers.

Aishat was taken to the Mother and Child Care Centre, Gbaja, an arm of the Randle General Hospital, Surulere, where she was delivered of a baby through caesarean section.

Our correspondent learnt that she was being prepared to be taken to a government home when the result of her COVID-19 test returned positive. Read more

Two stab man to death in Lagos dispute (Punch)

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two persons in the Fatade, Baruwa area of Ipaja for allegedly stabbing a 30-year-old man, Abiodun Rafiu, to death.

Our correspondent learnt that the suspects, identified only as Ademola and Uche, reportedly stabbed Rafiu with a bottle during altercation which occurred at their residence on Apostle Street, Fatade in the Baruwa area.

The matter was reported at the Ipaja Police Division by the mother of the deceased, identified as Yemisi Rafiu on June 13. Read more

Court orders Lagos Public Defender to take over Evans’ case (Punch)

Justice Hakeem Oshodi of an Ikeja High Court on Friday ordered the Lagos State Office of the Public Defender to take over the defence for alleged kidnap kingpin, Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, alias Evans due to his inability to afford legal fees.

During Friday’s proceedings, the Lagos State Attorney-General, Mr Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), informed the court that his team placed a phone call to the law chambers of Ladi Williams (SAN) and Co, who represented Evans on the last court date to enquire about the whereabouts of Evans’ counsel.

The AG noted that his team was informed by the law chambers that Evans has not “perfected their brief”. Read more
