House agent arraigned over alleged N350k fraud

A 33-year-old woman, Esther Andrew was on Monday arraigned in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly obtaining N350,000 by false pretence.

Andrew, a house agent who resides at 59, Unity Close, Obawole, Ogba, Lagos, is being tried for conspiracy, obtaining by false pretense and stealing.

She however pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem told the court that the offences were committed on Dec. 18, 2022 at Obawole, Ogba.

Akeem said that the defendant and others still at large obtained N350,000 from one Mr Pascal Anasiudu on false pretense that they would rent a self-contained apartment to him, but failed to deliver.

The prosecutor said that since then all efforts by the complainant to secure the apartment or get back his money failed.

The offences according to the prosecutor contravene Sections 287, 314 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Bola Osunsanmi granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Osunsanmi adjourned the case until March 30 for mention. (NAN)
