How the suicide bomb horror at Liverpool Women’s Hospital unfolded

Yesterday’s suicide outside a Liverpool hospital came as millions of Britons gathered to observe gathered to observe the annual 11am two-minute silence on Remembrance Sunday.

The solemn moment was punctured by the huge explosion inside taxi driver David Perry’s car at Liverpool Women’s Hospital. 

Hero Mr Perry is believed to have locked bomber Enzo Almeni, 32, inside his cab just seconds before he detonated his device. 

Below, the Daily Mail reveals the lead-up to and course of the attack, as well as its fast-moving aftermath, which saw police swoop on a property in Rutland Avenue in the Sefton Park district of Liverpool. 

Armed officers then arrived at another property, in Sutcliffe Street, and initially arrested three men before detaining a fourth suspect on Monday morning.  

1. Rutland Avenue 

At around 10.45am on Remembrance Sunday, taxi driver David Perry pulls up to a Victorian red-brick house in the Sefton Park district of Liverpool. 

His fare, a man of Middle Eastern origin, climbs into the Delta Taxis estate cab. 

He keeps his luggage on the back seat beside him, and asks to be taken to Liverpool Women’s Hospital. (DailyMail)
