The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Joe Ajaero, has declared that the union will not be intimidated by external pressures, following his appearance at the Intelligence Response Team, IRT, headquarters in Abuja on Thursday.
Ajaero, who was invited by the police to address allegations of terrorism financing, cybercrime, subversion, criminal conspiracy, and treasonable felony, arrived at the IRT office at 10:17 a.m. and left shortly after 11:15 a.m.

Udouko Ememabasi, a student at the Lagos State University (LASU), has cried out for justice after enduring an attack on the alleged order of her landlord, Idowu Shodipo, and his mother.

Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have neutralised a notorious kidnapping kingpin and leader of the Bling Bling Marine Strike Force, one Ubong Effiong Archibong, alias ‘Condiment.’
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, disclosed this in a statement issued in Uyo, the state capital, titled “Notorious Kidnap Kingpin/Sea Pirate Meets Waterloo” on Thursday.
She stated that the suspect was killed in a gun battle with operatives of the Command at his hideout in Uyanga Community, Cross River State, and a G3 rifle with ammunition was recovered from him. Read more

Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that his party will recapture Edo State in the next Governorship Elections on September 21, 2024.
Ganduje said, “Edo, which is coming on the 21st of September, I believe our campaign is in high spirits. We are getting ready for that election, and we believe we will be able to recover our state because it was an APC state, but due to internal wranglings, we lost it to the PDP. However, we are sure we will recover that state.”

ABBA have joined the chorus of artists demanding that Donald Trump cease playing their music at campaign rallies.
The legendary pop group has instructed its record label, Universal Music, to inform Trump’s campaign that it does not have permission or license to use its music, according to Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet.
“Together with the members of Abba, we have discovered that videos have been released where ABBA’s music/videos has been used at Trump events, and we have therefore requested that such use be immediately taken down and removed,” Universal Music said in a statement released on Thursday, August 29th. SM Entertainment — the K-pop agency home to NCT, Aespa, Riize and more — has announced a member of NCT has been removed from the band following an accusation of an unspecified sexual abuse.
In a statement uploaded to X, SM Entertainment said 30-year-old Taeil had been “accused in a criminal case in relation to a sexual crime.” A spokesperson for the agency told Variety, “While assessing the facts related to this matter, we recognized the severity of the issue and determined that he can no longer continue team activities. EU’s top diplomat seeks sanctions against Israeli ministers (AlJazeera)
The European Union’s foreign policy chief has urged the bloc’s 27 member states to impose sanctions against some Israeli ministers for their “hate messages” against Palestinians.
Josep Borrell, speaking before the EU’s foreign and defence ministers’ meeting in Brussels on Thursday, said Israeli ministers had made statements that go “clearly against international law and is an invitation to commit war crimes”.
He did not name the ministers. However, in recent weeks Borrell has publicly criticised far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich for statements he described as “sinister”. Read more
