I didn’t collect N6.2bn for Ruga in South-East —Ohanaeze Ndigbo president (Punch)

Nnia Nwodo, President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has denied a report that he collected N6.2 billion from President Muhammadu Buhari to implement the Federal Government’s RUGA programme in the South-East.

Nwodo in a statement on Friday said the allegation was baseless and intended to smear his person and cause disaffection among Ndigbo.

According to Nwodo in the statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Emeka Attamah, he said he was neither a traditional ruler nor governor in the Sout-East, as such, he had no land in his custody to offer for Ruga.

He said, “Our attention has been drawn to an insidious social media story making the rounds that the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief John Nnia Nwodo, and a Distinguished Senator and former Deputy Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Ike Ekweremadu, collected a whopping 6.2 billion naira from President Buhari out of 22.2 billion Naira budgeted to plant RUGA in the country.
