The Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria on Tuesday left the Monetary Policy Rate unchanged at 14 per cent. The CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, announced the decision of the committee at the end of a two-day meeting held at the apex bank’s headquarters in Abuja. The Certificate forgery suit instituted by two chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ademola Adeleke, has been adjourned indefinitely by a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Bwari, Abuja. The court action seeking disqualification of Adeleke from participating in the governorship election on the grounds of not possessing requisite educational qualification was adjourned Sine Die by Justice Othman Musa following the non appearance in court of the plaintiffs as well as their counsel, Bankole Akomolafe. Motorcyclist, passenger crushed by truck on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway (Guardian)

A motorcyclist and his passenger were on Monday crushed to death in an accident involving a truck and a motorcycle on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. My Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Public Relations Officer of  Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), who confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria in Abeokuta, said the incident happened close to a Connoil filling station on the highway.

 

IPAC seeks support for INEC to tackle vote-buying (Nation)

The Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC ) in Bauchi State has urged security agencies. Anti-graft bodies and media to support INEC in tackling the problem of vote-buying ahead of the 2019 elections. Man arraigned for ‘stealing’ at eatery (Nation)

The Police on Monday arraigned a 22-year-old man, Olatunde Kehinde, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged theft. The defendant of no fixed address is standing trial on a count charge of theft. The prosecutor, Insp Johnson Okunade, told the Court that the defendant committed the offence on September 17 in Ado-Ekiti. Read more

 

Man, 36, lynched over burglary in Anambra (Nation)

A 36-year old man was on Tuesday reportedly lynched by an angry mob in Amansea, Awka North local government area of Anambra State. The victim, whose identity was yet to be ascertained, was said to have severally burgled into people’s apartments at Amawarri area of the community. FIFA are set to reintroduce licences for player agents and has adopted, in principle, a limit on player loans. FIFA’s ‘Football Stakeholders Committee’ approved “the introduction of licences and exams for agents” at a meeting in London, according to a source close to the discussions.
