Igbo group gives condition to Lagos APC (Independent)

Ahead of the 2019 general election, Igbo National Stakeholders Assembly (INSA) has said that the comment credited to the Minister of Power and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, that the presidency should return to South West in 2023 was a deliberate act to embarrass the Igbo people, relegate them to the background, concludes it will withhold its votes from the party in the coming forthcoming elections.

The group said this at a press conference on Monday in Lagos where it spoke through the president general of the assembly, Chief John Uche.

Uche noted that unless President Buhari dropped Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and picked an Igbo man as his vice presidential candidate in 2019 general election, the Igbo people in Lagos and South West in particular would not vote for APC in the coming elections.

He said, “Lagos State APC has denied Ndigbo the only slot requested, that is that our son should be the House of Representatives candidate for Oshodi/Isolo constituency 2.

“We had an understanding with the major political parties in the state, PDP has acted in tandem with the agreement but APC refused, thereby demonstrating the lack of recognition for our people.” Read more
