Ilesa varsity worker dies as cashew-laden truck falls on private car

Lecturers, students and other stakeholders of the University of Ilesa, Osun State were on Wednesday, thrown into mourning when a container fully loaded with cashew nuts fell on a car belonging to a staffer of the institution, leading to her death.

The staff whose name was not mentioned at the time of filing in this report was however identified as a University worker before she met her death along the Ilesa-Ibodi Expressway, a few meters away from the university’s gate.

Though, good Samaritans at the scene made frantic efforts to rescue the victim from having her life cut short by the incident, all the efforts proved abortive.

The development however crippled the free flowing of both vehicular and human movements along the routes as vehicles involved in the accident blocked the passages.

Speaking to our reporter on the condition of anonymity, a university staffer, sympathised with the departed soul saying she just left the main campus when the incident occured.

However, in her confirmation, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Osun State, Kehinde Adeleke said the deceased was brought out dead from her car.

She said the civil defence personnel and other sister security agencies were on ground to render help when the incident happened. (Tribune)
