This is despite the Lagos State Police Command warning against any form of #EndSARS protest, stating the State cannot afford a repeat of the destruction brought about by hoodlums who hijacked the protests of last year.
The Nation also learnt that to counter the planned memorial protest at the Lekki tollgate axis, some youths are also planning to hold a ‘Defend Lagos’ rally.
“About a year ago, this carnage fell on Lagos State while Lagosians thought it was just going to be a protest. Lagos State was destroyed by End SARS protesters. Read more

A year after mass protests, Nigerian police brutality has ‘resumed’ (Guardian)
Monsurat Ojuade had just turned 18 when she was killed by a police officer, her sister Omolara said in a trembling voice.
News of her death, during a raid in her neighbourhood of Nigeria’s Lagos last month, shocked many in a country preparing to commemorate the first anniversary of EndSARS, a protest movement against police brutality that rocked major cities in the south.
The protests came to a grinding halt after October 20, 2020, the date of a brutal crackdown on peaceful protesters at the Lekki tollgate, the epicentre of the demonstrations.
Monsurat’s death in September was for many a sign that police brutality has continued in Africa’s most populous country.
And for the youth that mobilised massively for the first time in decades, her death was also a reminder that their demands for change have not been heard, and pervasive impunity and corruption still exists.
“It was a Friday night, we were about to lock the shop. Monsurat saw some guys running,” said her sister Omolara Ojuade, speaking to AFP by phone. Read more

Recall earlier report had it that the erstwhile National President, ALGON was vacated by a court and ordered not to parade himself as the leadership of the association after it was discovered that he is an LCDA chairman in Lagos State and not a local government chairman of any the 774 local government which is the criteria for a presidential position as stipulated by the constitution guiding the association.

Liverpool, too, have heavily invested in Anfield and Old Trafford appears creaky in a number of areas, particularly given its age.
