Rogue cops extort N153k from undergraduate, CP removes DPO (Punch)
Four policemen attached to the Ogudu Police Division in Lagos State have extorted N153,000 from an undergraduate of Cyprus University, Emmanuel Nnawuihe in the Ojota area of the state.
PUNCH Metro gathered that Nnawuihe was driving to a destination in the state when the policemen, who were on operational duty, flagged him down for a search around the under-bridge area of Ojota.
After obliging the policemen’s request, it was learnt that the policemen searched Nnawuihe’s vehicle and his mobile phone and found nothing incriminating. Read more

As part of his plans to cushion the effect of the hike in the price of transportation and other commodities occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy, Nigerian singer, Joeboy has introduced free Lagos buses to help Lagos residents get going.
Joeboy, whose new body of work is entitled Body and Soul made the announcement via his Twitter page on Tuesday, describing it as his way of helping people for the next three days.

Father bags 3 life sentences for defiling his 3 underaged daughters (Guardian)
An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Tuesday sentenced a 45-year-old businessman, Emeka Orisakwe, to three life sentences for defiling his three underaged children.
The minors were aged eight, eight and six.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Justice Abiola Soladoye held that the prosecution had proved beyond reasonable doubt the three-count charge bordering on sexual assault by penetration against the defendant. Read more

well encountered 38 meters of net oil pay and 15 meters of net gas pay, while its side-track Ntokon-1G1 encountered 73 meters of net oil pay, in well-developed and excellent quality reservoirs. Sir Paul McCartney says artificial intelligence has enabled a ‘final’ Beatles song (BBC)
Sir Paul McCartney says he has employed artificial intelligence to help create what he calls “the final Beatles record”.
He told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme the technology had been used to “extricate” John Lennon’s voice from an old demo so he could complete the song.
“We just finished it up and it’ll be released this year,” he explained.
Sir Paul did not name the song, but it is likely to be a 1978 Lennon composition called Now And Then. Read more

Skeletons that have emerged from receding waters following flooding caused by the destruction of the Kakhovka dam have sparked speculation they could be the remains of World War II soldiers.
Ukraine has accused Russia of destroying the Kakhovka dam that lies downstream from the huge Kakhovka reservoir, which is a crucial water supply for the region and a vital channel to the south of the country. Moscow has denied responsibility for the dam’s destruction which has led to widespread flooding and urgent evacuation efforts.
The Telegram channel of Politika Strana, which reports on the war in Ukraine, was among the outlets that shared a video of skulls found in mudflats at the bottom of the Kakhovka reservoir in the Kherson oblast. Following the destruction of the dam, the reservoir lost almost three-quarters of its water (72 percent), according to the outlet. Read more
