Indicted INEC staff shouldn’t partake in supplementary polls – TMG (Punch)

A coalition of over 400 civil society organisations under the aegis of Transition Monitoring Group has demanded that all personnel of the Independent National Electoral Commission who were indicted for any wrongdoing in the last elections should not be included in the supplementary elections scheduled for Saturday, March 23.

INEC had scheduled the supplementary elections for Adamawa, Bauchi, Benue, Plateau, Kano and Sokoto States.

According to the TMG, INEC and security agencies should prosecute all indicted or arrested electoral offenders in the last elections.

The chairperson of TMG and Executive Director of Women Advocates Rights and Documentation Centre, Dr. Abiola Akiyode – Afolabi, tabled the demands in a statement issued in Bauchi on Friday ahead of the supplementary polls. Read more
