Amid the escalating Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has urged Nigerians not to allow the overseas hostility to deepen divisions or inflame religious tensions within the country.
This is coming as the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Enoch Adeboye declared support for Israel saying that all members of RCCG worldwide stand with the people of Israel at this critical moment.

The governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Lagos State, Gbadebo-Rhodes Vivour (GRV) has filed his Notice of Appeal before the Court of Appeal, Lagos challenging the decision of the State Governorship Tribunal which upheld the return of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The notice of appeal, which was settled by one of his lawyers, Olagbade Benson on behalf of 12 others was filed on Saturday, October 7th and has 21 grounds of appeal.
The 24-paged document has been served on the counsel to the Respondents, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the governor and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat as well as the All Progressives Congress (APC). Read more

The exercise began on Wednesday as structures causing setbacks along the Ikota drainage channel were demolished.

World Mental Health Day: Decriminalise mental health, says Pate (Tribune)
The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate, has called on Nigerians to decriminalise mental health, but rather empathise with patients suffering from such diseases.
The minister made the call on Tuesday in Abuja, during the commemoration of the 2023 World Mental Health Day with the theme ‘Mental Health is a Universal Human Right’.

Court remands man for alleged gang-rape, killing sister (Vanguard)
An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan , on Tuesday, ordered that a 22- year-old man, Bidemi Olayode in Agodi Correctional facility, over gang-rape and murder of his sister.
Olayode, who lives in Alapa Community, near Ayegun area of Ibadan, is charged with conspiracy and murder.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr M. Mudashiru, did not take Olayode’s plea. Read more

The Irish government has boosted its support for the Irish film and TV industry in its 2024 budget, with film and TV productions able to claim a 32% tax break on eligible expenditure up to €125m, raised from €70m, per project.
It is expected to be in place in early 2024, once formally approved by the government.
