The Lagos State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, says he has never been declared unfit and having unsound mind at any point in time. This is contrary to allegations levelled against him by the Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode. The governor on September 30, 2018 while addressing a World Press Conference alleged that Sanwo-Olu was once a patient at the Gbagada General Hospital, Lagos, where he underwent rehabilitation. Fresh details yesterday indicated that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole became a target after refusing $500,000 bribe cash from a governor. The governor wanted the APC chairman to adopt his anointed governorship candidate. But Oshiomhole insisted on applying the guidelines of the party for primaries. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is probing some Akwa Ibom State officials for alleged   withdrawal of N6.5billion in cash from an imprest account. The cash was said to have been diverted from a derivation account to the imprest account of the Ministry of Justice/ Office of the Accountant-General in the state. Couple, daughter, mother-in-law die in Anambra crash (Punch)

An accident on Saturday at Nkwelle Ezunaka Junction in the Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State claimed the lives of a man, his wife, daughter and mother-in-law. It was gathered that the accident involved a tipper and a Toyota Camry. The victims, who were rushed to a nearby hospital, were confirmed dead on arrival. Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Haruna Mohammed, said the corpses of the victims had been deposited in a morgue. Read more

Ebola death toll passes 200 in DR Congo (BBC)

More than 200 people have now died in the latest outbreak of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo, according to health officials. About half the victims were from Beni, a city of 800,000 in the North Kivu region, the national health authority said. A vaccination programme has so far inoculated about 25,000 people.
