The immediate past chairman of Abaji Area Council, Alhaji Yahaya Garba Gawu, has said he has not seen his wife since she was abducted by gunmen two years ago despite payment of N5.5 million ransom to the kidnappers.
Gawu, who spoke to our reporter in Abuja Wednesday, said the kidnappers abducted his wife along with her six-year-old child in April 2016, adding that he explored all avenues to ensure that she and his daughter were released but to no avail.
He said he established direct contact with the kidnappers for only two months and that he has not heard from them again.
He said he first paid N3 million ransom and later paid an additional N2 million through one of his close relatives to the kidnappers, yet his wife’s and daughter’s whereabouts were still unknown. Read more
