Former Manchester United defender Jaap Stam has labelled Liverpool’s new signing Sepp van den Berg a ‘very talented player’ and has expressed his hope that he succeeds at Anfield.
Van den Berg became Jurgen Klopp‘s first signing of the summer last week, joining in a deal worth £1.3m potentially rising to £4.4m with add-ons from Dutch side PEC Zwolle.
The 17-year-old is expected to start out in Liverpool’s youth team but hopes are high that he will be able to challenge for a place in the first-team squad sooner rather than later.
Stam, who will take charge of Feyenoord next season, managed Van den Berg during the second half of last term during a stint with Zwolle and he rates his compatriot extremely highly. Read more
