Jamie Carragher admits he’s ‘not a massive fan’ of David Luiz but says he can ‘totally understand’ why Arsenal signed the defender from Chelsea following Laurent Koscielny’s departure this summer.
Luiz completed a controversial £8million switch across London on deadline day and the 32-year-old put pen to paper on a two-year contract which sees him through to 2021 at the Emirates.
The Brazilian was brought in to replace Koscielny who went on strike at Arsenal in order to force a move to Bordeaux.
Former Liverpool star Carragher has been an outspoken critic of Luiz down the years, but thinks the centre-back is an improvement on Shkodran Mustafi, a player he feels is ‘nowhere near good enough’ for the Gunners. Read more
