Johanna Konta splits with coach Thomas Hogstedt

Johanna Konta has split with coach Thomas Hogstedt after deciding to end their association after the US Open.

Konta teamed up with Hogstedt – who has worked with an impressive list of top-level players including Maria Sharapova, Caroline Wozniacki and Simona Halep – in July after splitting with Dimitri Zavialoff.

But after crashing out in the second round of the US Open, the British No. 1 decided to end the working relationship – which was only initially on a trial basis – after less than two months.

Konta, 29, has had five different coaches within the past four years, having also worked with Eseban Carril, Wim Fissette and Michael Joyce in that spell, with British coach Dan Smethurst – who is already part of her team – travelling with her to the French Open after she lost in straight sets to Garbine Muguruza in Rome.
