The president of Benfica has claimed that ‘money is no object’ as they try and tempt Jose Mourinho into a return to the club.
The Portuguese side sacked Rui Vitoria as manager last week and Mourinho is without a job having been fired by Manchester United in December, which has led to suggestions he could return to the side he managed briefly in 2000.
Mourinho’s spell in charge of Benfica lasted just 11 games before he resigned, but president Luis Filipe Vieira describes him as a ‘friend’ who he would have back at the club ‘ at the drop of a hat.’
Reports suggested that Mourinho has rejected the chance to return to Benfica, but Vieira believes that money could talk in an attempt to change his mind. Read more
