Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admitted losing Fabinho to injury was the ‘last thing’ his side needed after Virgil van Dijk was ruled out for the season.
The Brazilian limped out of Liverpool’s 2-0 win against Midtjylland with a hamstring strain. Fabinho will have a scan on the injury tomorrow but he’s expected to miss the next week at a minimum.
With Joel Matip and Van Dijk currently sidelined, Joe Gomez is the club’s only fit, recognised centre-back heading into Saturday’s clash against West Ham.
However, Klopp is confident that he has the solution to the problem in his squad already as the German believes one of Nat Phillips, Rhys Williams – who came on for Fabinho – or Billy Koumetio could fill in for Fabinho at the back.
‘Rhys Williams did really well – that was really good,’ said Klopp. (Metro)
