Jurgen Klopp reveals why James Milner was furious with Liverpool teammates

Jurgen Klopp has revealed that James Milner was unhappy with his Liverpool teammates during Saturday’s draw with Arsenal and made sure they knew about it at half-time.

The Merseysiders were noticeably less intense than usual at the Emirates, though did take the lead shortly after the restart through Milner only to be pegged back late on by Alexandre Lacazette.

Klopp admits his side did not press as effectively as they usually do, and Milner – who was captain in Jordan Henderson’s absence – also spotted the problem and was furious with how the team were playing at half-time.

Klopp explained: ‘When you have a compact formation you give the opposition the opportunity to pass into a certain place and then you press. It’s not that complicated.

‘But Arsenal had two or three options to pass the ball, and that makes life pretty uncomfortable for the three midfielders. We were too high on the wings. Read more
