Members of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and the Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kaduna State have urged Nigerians to practically support the fight against the insecurity in the country. In their separate Easter messages, the Arewa leaders and CAN, who condemned the unabated killings in some parts of the country, said only Nigerians themselves could salvage the situation.
“The task of overcoming the security challenges posed by kidnapping, insurgency, cattle rustling, banditry and the unnecessary clashes between various ethnic groups cannot be left to government alone,” the National Publicity Secretary of ACF, Alhaji Muhammad Ibraheem Biu, said in a statement issued yesterday.
“All leaders and Nigerians should collectively move against these challenges for common good. The governments at all levels and the security agencies should intensify their operations and also maintain surveillance in the red alert states until peace and normalcy are restored.
“For the needed normalcy to return, all Nigerians must play their roles of providing support by way of intelligence to the security agencies which would enable them to succeed. Now that the 2019 general elections are over with winners declared at both the federal and state levels, the Forum appeals to our leaders to note that no society thrives on the victory of its faction, but through ultimate reconciliation and inclusiveness,” the group said in the statement.“ Victory and defeat are never final.
