Kaffy, Pinkidebbie hail Ude for attempting dance world record

Kafayat Shafau-Ameh a.k.a. Kaffy, who broke the world record for Longest Dance Party at the Nokia Silverbird Danceathon in 2006 and Debbie Odumewu (Pinkidebbie), who holds the world record for the Longest Dance Marathon by an Individual, have been to Maryland Mall to support Bright Michael Ude, who is attempting to surpass the latter’s record.

While Pinkidebbie was there in the afternoon of March 14, the day Ude crossed the 116-hour threshold, Kaffy came by the night before. March 16 marked his sixth day on the project.

Pinkidebbie said in an interview that it is awesome that Ude is attempting to break her record.

“There is room for everybody and it was someone else’s record before I broke it. So, I knew I would not be the one to hold it for life,” said Pinkidebbie, who confessed that it had not been an easy task for her to break the record previously held by an Indian woman, Kalamandalam Hemaletha last year.

In an interview with thisislagos.ng, Ude, who said he started dancing when was only five years old, revealed that Kaffy had been there to lend her support to his venture the night before.

“She said, ‘I am very proud of you. You make me proud. Ever since I met Kaffy when I was 15, she has been an inspiration to me. She is the reason why I took up this challenge because she is like the vision I see in dance. If she can do, I can because she is like my mum, my role model, she is a whole lot to me,” said Ude, who started dancing professionally when he turned 15.

For anybody who intends to break a world record, Ude’s advice is that they should have a doctor on standby; they should of course be sure they can do it and have proper training about dance for instance, and know what they are getting into
