Kamala Harris makes history as first black Vice President of the US

Kamala Devi Harris has made history as the first first female, first black and first South Asian Vice President of the United States.

Harris served as a United States senator from California from 2017 to 2021, and as attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017

She was sworn in by Justice Sonia Maria Sotomayor Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. She was nominated by President Barack Obama on May 26, 2009 and has served since August 8, 2009 .
